ROTARY NEWS

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In celebration of Rotary International's designation of September as Literacy Month, members of the Hicksville-Jericho Rotary Club sponsored a "Story Time" at the Hicksville Public Library on Literacy Day, September 8, 2005.

Youngsters from the community were invited to hear their favorite stories read to them by members of the Hicksville-Jericho Rotary Club. Goody bags were passed out to those attending, "Dora the Explorer" seemed to be the hit of the day. Arrangements for this fun time was arranged by Stephanie Sokenis, Director of Community Service.

Rotary International is a international service club whose object is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service, maintain high ethical standards in business, recognize worthiness of all useful occupations and dignify each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to service society. Rotarians endeavor to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
